The Weave
This is a handloom cotton saree. Woven by hand, on a loom, by an artisan — not on a power loom.
Along the border, stepped temple peaks alternate with small flowering stems, each one woven in by the weaver's hand. Run your eye down the length and you will find no two exactly the same. That is how you know a loom, and a person, made it.
How to Style It
Soft indigo is a gentle blue with a touch of violet — quieter than navy, warmer than royal blue. Against it, the gold tissue pallu reads rich but never loud. It carries easily from a Navratri evening to Deepavali visits and family functions, and cotton keeps it comfortable all day.
For contrast, a mustard blouse warms the indigo and picks up the gold. A soft pink or a pastel blouse makes it gentler. Off-white echoes the woven buttas for a clean, classic look. Gold-toned or temple jewellery suits it well.
Care
Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Wash it on its own the first few times, and always keep darks and lights apart. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Do not wring or twist, especially the tissue. Line dry in the shade — cotton fades faster in direct sun. Iron on a warm setting, and press the tissue border and pallu on the reverse side.
Store it folded in a dry place, wrapped in white cotton cloth, and refold it along new lines now and then so the tissue does not crease sharply in one place.
Questions
What is the fabric?
Handloom cotton, with a gold tissue border and a gold tissue pallu.
Is the gold shimmer zari?
No. The shimmer on the border and pallu is tissue, not zari.
What comes with the saree?
One soft indigo handloom cotton saree, 6.2 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, with a soft indigo running blouse attached. The blouse portion is part of the 6.2 metres.
Is the blouse stitched?
No. The running blouse is unstitched and attached to the saree. Your tailor cuts it off and stitches it to your measurements.
Is it really handloom?
Yes. It is woven by hand on a loom, not on a power loom.
What shade is soft indigo?
A muted blue with a hint of violet, lighter and softer than navy. Colours can look slightly different on screen, so ask us for a daylight video if you want to be sure.
How is this different from your other handloom cotton sarees in this weave?
The mustard saree shares this temple border in a warm, earthy colour. The magenta and rama green sarees carry a leaf border instead. Soft indigo is the cool-toned temple border choice.
Is it suitable for festivals?
Yes. The indigo and gold tissue make it festive, and the cotton keeps it comfortable — a good choice for Navratri, Deepavali and family functions.
Why do some motifs look slightly different?
Because they are woven by hand. Small variations in texture and motif shape are natural to handloom and are not defects.
How do I care for the tissue?
Do not wring or twist it. Iron on a warm setting, pressing the tissue on the reverse side, and store the saree folded in soft cotton cloth.
Can I see the saree on a video call?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp at 7353931190 and we will show it to you live, in daylight, so you can see the true shade of indigo and how the gold tissue catches the light.
Do you deliver across India?
Yes, to all pin codes. Shipping is free on prepaid orders. COD is available with a ₹150 handling charge.
How soon will it reach me?
We usually dispatch within one working day. Delivery then takes two to three days to metro cities and five to seven to non-metro.
Can I return or exchange it?
Returns are accepted within five days of receipt, with an unedited video of the parcel being opened from start to finish. Exchanges within three days, in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged at your end.
