An orange Maheshwari-style cotton silk saree with a gold striped pallu and a gold-toned blouse, woven on a powerloom. The body stays plain, and the gold sits beautifully against the orange. It's inspired by the Maheshwari weave rather than woven in Maheshwar, and we'd like you to hear that from us first.
Fabric & Weave
Cotton silk blends cotton with silk, so the orange has a soft sheen rather than a flat finish. A geometric woven border in gold-coloured thread, not zari, runs the full length, finished with a brown outer edge.
The pallu is gold-toned with fine white stripes across it, framed by wide gold bands edged in thin black lines. The orange returns at the very end, and it finishes in black and gold tassels.
Size
6.24 m long, including a 90 cm gold-toned running blouse with a woven border, attached to the saree. 1.2 m wide and about 500 g. Free size.
How to Style It
Orange and gold feel like harvest festivals and temple mornings. The attached gold blouse keeps it festive for Navratri, Golu visits or a pooja at home. A bottle green or deep teal blouse gives it a rich contrast, and a brown or olive blouse keeps it earthy for the office. Antique gold or oxidised jewellery both suit it.
Care
Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, since the colour can bleed. No bleach and no wringing. Line dry in the shade to keep the orange even, and iron on warm.
