A royal blue Maheshwari-style cotton silk saree with a gold striped pallu and a gold-toned blouse, woven on a powerloom. The blue is bright and rich, and the plain body lets the gold pallu shine against it. It's inspired by the Maheshwari weave rather than woven in Maheshwar, and we'd like you to hear that from us first.

Fabric & Weave

Cotton silk blends cotton with silk, so the royal blue has a soft sheen rather than a flat finish. A geometric woven border in gold-coloured thread, not zari, runs the full length, with a dark outer edge.

The pallu is gold-toned with fine white stripes across it, framed by wide gold bands edged in thin black lines. The royal blue returns at the very end, and it finishes in black and gold tassels.

Size

6.24 m long, including a 90 cm gold-toned running blouse with a woven border, attached to the saree. 1.2 m wide and about 500 g. Free size.

How to Style It

Royal blue and gold is made for celebrations. The attached gold blouse suits weddings, Dussehra and family functions. A mustard or orange blouse gives it a warm, vivid contrast, and a soft pink blouse makes it lighter for daytime. Gold jhumkas or a layered temple necklace finish it.

Care

Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, since the colour can bleed. No bleach and no wringing. Line dry in the shade to keep the blue bright, and iron on warm.

The attached gold blouse for festive wear, mustard or orange for a warm contrast, or soft pink for daytime.
