A modal silk saree hand-block printed in Kutch, Gujarat, using vegetable dyes. The body carries red and cream stripes, and the pallu turns to black, printed with large cream leaf motifs veined in red. It comes with a separate printed blouse piece.
Fabric, dye and print
This saree is authentic modal silk, hand-block printed in Kutch, Gujarat, and coloured with vegetable dyes.
Every motif is stamped by hand with a carved wooden block, one impression at a time. Because of that, you will see small irregularities — a stripe that wavers slightly, a leaf that sits a little off-line, a patch where the colour is lighter or deeper. These are the marks of hand printing and natural dyes, not defects, and no two sarees come out exactly the same.
Modal silk is soft, light and fluid. It drapes easily, holds pleats well and has a gentle sheen that sits between cotton and silk.
What's included
- One saree, 6 metres long and 1.14 metres wide
- One separate blouse piece, 80 cm long, in cream with a red jaal print and a rust border
- Free size — the saree fits all body types
How it drapes
When draped, the red and cream stripes form the pleats and the front of the saree, and the black leaf pallu falls over the shoulder. The stripes and the bold leaves play against each other — busy at the front, graphic at the shoulder.
Who this saree is for
This one is for women who love hand-printed textiles and want something that feels considered but is still easy to wear. It suits office wear, lunches, cultural evenings and small family functions. Modal silk is light, so it stays comfortable through a long day.
How to style it
The included blouse piece is the natural pairing — its cream base and red jaal pick up both the stripes and the leaf veins. A solid black blouse is a sharp alternative that ties back to the pallu, and a solid red blouse makes the stripes feel continuous.
For jewellery, oxidised silver suits the black and cream, and antique gold works with the red. One statement piece is enough.
Care instructions
Gentle hand wash at home in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Vegetable dyes are natural, so wash this saree separately and do not soak it for long. Do not wring or twist. Dry in shade; direct sun fades natural dyes faster. Iron on low to medium heat.

Frequently asked questions
What fabric is this saree?
Authentic modal silk. It is soft, lightweight and fluid, with a gentle sheen.
Is this saree hand-block printed?
Yes. It is hand-block printed in Kutch, Gujarat, with each motif stamped by hand using a carved wooden block.
What dyes are used?
Vegetable dyes.
Why are there irregularities in the print?
Because the saree is printed by hand and coloured with vegetable dyes. Slight variations in line, alignment and colour depth are natural to the process and are not defects. They also mean no two sarees are exactly alike.
Does it come with a blouse piece?
Yes. It comes with a separate 80 cm blouse piece in cream with a red jaal print and a rust border.
How long and wide is the saree?
The saree is 6 metres long and 1.14 metres wide, not counting the separate 80 cm blouse piece. It is free size and suits all body types.
How do I wash this saree?
Gentle hand wash at home in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Wash it separately, avoid long soaking and dry in shade.
What blouse goes with a red striped saree with a black pallu?
The included cream printed blouse piece is the easiest match. A solid black blouse ties back to the pallu, and a solid red blouse makes the stripes feel continuous.
