A red modal silk saree, hand-block printed in Ajrakh in Kutch, Gujarat. The body runs in red and off-white stripes, edged by a blue hexagon-chain border, with large blue circles along the end. The pallu turns to blue, with a rich Ajrakh jaal of medallions and stars framed by red bands of floral sprigs. The running blouse is red with blue and black floral sprigs.
It is authentic modal silk. It's light and flowy, and comfortable enough to wear all day.
The Print
Stripes, circles, medallions: every part of this saree was printed by hand with carved wooden blocks in Kutch. Small shifts in line and tone are the mark of hand-block printing, so no two pieces come out the same. We source it directly from the artisans who print it.
The Fabric
Modal silk has a soft sheen and a fluid drape. It's lighter than a heavy silk and breathes better, so it stays easy through a long evening.
The Running Blouse
The 6 metres include a running blouse in red with blue and black floral sprigs, attached after the pallu and ready to cut and take to your tailor.
How to Style It
The red stripes and blue pallu are a bold pairing on their own, so let them lead with one statement piece of jewellery. It's made for being a wedding guest, a reception, a sangeet or an evening function: bright enough to celebrate in, and light enough to dance in.
Care
Hand wash gently at home in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Don't wring or twist. Dry in the shade.
