Fabric & Weave

Cotton silk is a blend of cotton and silk, which gives the red body a soft sheen. The gold detailing is woven in gold-coloured thread, not zari.

A border woven in gold-coloured thread runs along the body, with motifs along it, edged in dark brown. The black pallu is crossed by thin gold-coloured stripes and closes with a wide gold band and a red end panel lined in gold, finished with black and gold tassels.

Size

6.24 m long, including a 90 cm black running blouse attached to the saree. 1.2 m wide and about 500 g. Free size.

How to Style It

The attached blouse piece is black, so it carries the pallu colour to the shoulder. For a tonal drape, a red blouse lets the black stay on the pallu alone. Gold jewellery works with the woven gold. Keep it to one statement piece so the red and black do the talking.

Care

Hand wash on its own in cold water with a mild detergent, as reds and blacks can run. No bleach and no wringing. Line dry in the shade and iron on warm.
