A red Maheshwari-style cotton silk saree with a gold striped pallu framed in black, and a gold-toned blouse, woven on a powerloom. Red, black and gold are an old, trusted combination, and here the red body stays plain so the pallu can carry all three. It's inspired by the Maheshwari weave rather than woven in Maheshwar, and we'd like you to hear that from us first.

Fabric & Weave

Cotton silk blends cotton with silk, so the red has a soft sheen rather than a flat finish. A geometric woven border in gold-coloured thread, not zari, runs the full length, with a deep wine edge along the outside.

The pallu is gold-toned with fine white stripes across it. On either side sits a wide black band, then a gold band, before the red returns at the very end. It finishes in black and gold tassels.

Size

6.24 m long, including a 90 cm gold-toned running blouse with a woven border, attached to the saree. 1.2 m wide and about 500 g. Free size.

How to Style It

This is a saree for festive days. The attached gold blouse keeps it bright and traditional, right for Dussehra, Deepavali and temple visits. A black blouse picks up the pallu bands for a sharper look, and a pastel blouse softens the red for a daytime function. Temple jewellery or antique gold jhumkas suit it well.

Care

Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, since red can bleed. No bleach and no wringing. Line dry in the shade to keep the red rich, and iron on warm.

FAQs

Is this red saree a real Maheshwari?

No. It's Maheshwari-style, inspired by the weave but not made in Maheshwar.

Is it handloom?

No. This red saree is woven on a powerloom.

What is the fabric?

Cotton silk, a blend of cotton and silk. It isn't pure silk.

Is the gold border zari?

No. The border and the gold on the pallu are woven in gold-coloured thread.

What colours are in the pallu?

Gold with fine white stripes, framed by wide black bands and gold bands, with red at the very end and black and gold tassels.

Is there a blouse piece, and what colour is it?

Yes. A 90 cm gold-toned running blouse with a woven border is attached, within the full 6.24 m length. The saree is 1.2 m wide.

How heavy is this saree?

About 500 g.

Is a red and gold saree right for Deepavali or Dussehra?

Yes. Red with gold is a classic festive choice, and the cotton silk stays comfortable through a long day.

What blouse can I pair instead of the gold one?

A black blouse echoes the pallu bands. A soft pastel blouse makes the red feel lighter for daytime.

Will the red fade after washing?

Wash it by hand on its own in cold water with a mild detergent, don't wring it, and dry it in the shade. Direct sun is what fades a red fastest.

How long will it take to arrive, and is COD available?
