A red modal silk saree, hand-block printed in Ajrakh in Kutch, Gujarat. Red and off-white stripes run through the body, then shift into a panel of blue and off-white stripes. The pallu carries large floral bouquet buttas on red, framed by wide blue bands of medallions and a flower-and-arrow border, finished with blue tassels. The running blouse is red with small blue and off-white buttas.
It is authentic modal silk. It's light and flowy, and comfortable enough to wear all day.
The Print
Two colours of stripes, bouquets and medallions, every one printed by hand with carved wooden blocks in Kutch. The stripes wander a little and no two bouquets sit quite the same. That is the hand at work. We source it directly from the artisans who print it.
The Fabric
Modal silk has a soft sheen and a fluid drape. It's lighter than a heavy silk and breathes better, so it's easy to wear through a long day of visiting and celebrating.
The Running Blouse
The 6 metres include a running blouse in red with small blue and off-white buttas, ready to cut and take to your tailor.
How to Style It
With two stripe colours and a bouquet pallu, this saree has plenty going on, so keep it to one statement piece of jewellery. Wear it for Dussehra, Durga Puja pandal visits and festive get-togethers, or gift it to a daughter who likes her traditions with a modern edge.
Care
Hand wash gently at home in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Don't wring or twist. Dry in the shade.
