A red modal silk saree, hand-block printed in Ajrakh in Kutch, Gujarat. Blue lotus buttas and small black quatrefoils are scattered across the red body. The border alternates blue flowers with off-white arrow motifs, and a wide blue band of medallions runs along the end. The pallu opens into a red and blue jaal of large lozenge panels, finished with blue tassels. The running blouse carries the same lozenge jaal.
It is authentic modal silk. It's light and flowy, and comfortable enough to wear all day.
The Print
Every lotus, flower and medallion was printed by hand with carved wooden blocks in Kutch. Look closely and each butta sits a little differently from the next. That is the hand at work, and no two pieces come out the same. We source it directly from the artisans who print it.
The Fabric
Modal silk has a soft sheen and a fluid drape. It's lighter than a heavy silk and breathes better, so it stays comfortable through a day of cooking, praying and hosting.
The Running Blouse
The 6 metres include a running blouse in the red and blue lozenge jaal, ready to cut and take to your tailor.
How to Style It
The lotus buttas keep the body light and the pallu carries the drama, so one statement piece of jewellery is enough. Wear it for a puja at home, a kitty party, a Seemantham or a family get-together, whenever you're the one hosting.
Care
Hand wash gently at home in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Don't wring or twist. Dry in the shade.
