A handloom saree with a deep purple body and a grey pallu, woven with small off-white motifs throughout. The motifs are woven into the cloth rather than printed on it, which is why you can see them from the reverse side too. A purple running blouse comes attached.

The Details

  • Length — 6.2 metres, including the running blouse
  • Width — 1.2 metres
  • Body — deep purple, scattered with small woven buttas
  • Pallu — grey, with woven motif bands and a purple border
  • Finish — knotted tassels at the pallu end, a fine lilac and white selvedge along the edge
  • Blouse — purple running blouse attached, to be cut and stitched by your tailor

The Weave

This is handloom. Woven by hand, on a loom, by an artisan — not by a power loom. We say it plainly because it is the one thing our customers most want to be sure of.

Because it is woven by hand, you will find small irregularities in the weave and in the placement of the motifs. A slub in the yarn, a motif that sits a hair off from its neighbour. These are the marks of the loom and the hand that worked it, not flaws in the cloth.

How to Style It

Purple against grey is a quiet, uncommon pairing. The grey keeps the purple from turning festive, so the saree stays wearable on an ordinary day.

Oxidised silver jewellery suits it especially well. So does a plain grey or off-white blouse, if you would rather keep the running blouse for something else.

Care

Hand wash in cold to lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Wash it separately the first few times — deep colours can release a little dye early on. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade, never in direct sun. Warm iron only.

Stored well — folded in a dry place, wrapped in white cotton cloth, refolded along different lines now and then — a handloom saree stays with you for years.

Questions

What exactly do I receive?
One saree, 6.2 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, with a purple running blouse attached. The 6.2 metres includes the blouse portion.

Does it come with a blouse?
Yes, a purple running blouse is attached and included in the length. It is unstitched — your tailor cuts and stitches it.

Is it handloom?
Yes. This saree is handwoven on a loom, not power loom.

Are the motifs printed or woven?
Woven. They are worked into the fabric on the loom, which is why they are visible from the reverse side as well.

What is the real colour?
A deep purple body with a grey pallu and off-white motifs. Screens vary, so a video call is the honest way to check before you buy.

Why are there small irregularities in the weave?
Because a person wove it. Slight variations in texture and motif placement are natural to handloom and are not defects.

Will the colour run?
A little in the first few washes, as deep colours do. Wash it separately at first and it settles.

How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cold to lukewarm water with a mild detergent, no bleach. Do not wring. Line dry in the shade and use a warm iron only.

Can I see it before I buy?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp at 7353931190 and we will show you the saree live on a video call, in daylight.

Do you ship across India?
Yes, to all pin codes. Free shipping on prepaid orders. COD available with a ₹150 handling charge.

How quickly is it dispatched?
Usually within one working day. After that, two to three days to metro cities and five to seven to non-metro.

Can I return or exchange it?
Return within five days of receiving it, with an unedited video of the parcel being opened from start to finish. Exchange within three days, in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged at your end.
