A handwoven mul cotton saree in soft butter yellow, with fine zari stripes woven through the body and a scalloped border running along the edge.

On a pale ground the zari behaves differently — instead of catching the eye, the stripes sit almost tone-on-tone and only show themselves when the light moves across the drape. It makes this a quieter saree than it sounds on paper.

Pastel and cotton together are a summer combination. Light colour, light weave, nothing heavy about it.

How To Style It

Pastels ask for a decision. Go tonal with an ivory or cream blouse and the whole drape stays soft and understated. Or break it — a deep maroon, bottle green or indigo blouse against butter yellow is a classic South Indian pairing and gives the saree a spine.

Gold or antique-finish jewellery suits the warm undertone. Pearls keep it gentle. A contrast border blouse in a printed cotton also works well here, since the saree itself is quiet.

Good for daytime — a morning function, a temple visit, Varamahalakshmi, Ugadi, Seemantham, or the office on a hot day.

Care Instructions

  • Hand wash in cold water
  • Wash it on its own the first few times — pale colours pick up dye from anything darker
  • Use a mild detergent. No bleach or harsh chemicals
  • Do not wring or twist the fabric
  • Line dry in the shade
  • Warm iron only — excess heat damages the fabric and dulls zari
  • Store in a dry place, wrapped in white cotton cloth

See It Before You Buy

Pastels are the hardest shades to photograph honestly — this yellow will look creamier on one screen and greener on another. Call or WhatsApp 7353931190 and we will show you the real colour on a video call in daylight, before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What shade of yellow is this?

A soft, pale butter yellow — a pastel rather than a bright or mustard yellow. If the exact shade matters for a function, ask us for a video call and we will show it to you in daylight.

Is this saree handloom?

Yes, it is handloom mul cotton. Where a piece in our range is powerloom, we say powerloom on that listing.

Are the zari stripes visible?

Subtly. Against a pale yellow ground the zari reads close to tone-on-tone rather than glinting — you notice it when the light shifts. If you want zari that stands out, the same saree in grey shows it far more strongly.

Does a pastel saree suit every skin tone?

Butter yellow has a warm undertone, so it tends to sit beautifully on wheatish and deeper skin. On very fair skin it can read soft — a deeper contrast blouse and border fixes that immediately.

What is the length and width?

5.5 metres long and 1.15 metres wide.

Is a blouse piece included?

No. Mul cotton is a very delicate fabric, so we do not attach a blouse piece to it. Blouse fabric is sourced separately.

Will a pale saree stain easily?

Light colours show marks more readily than dark ones — that is simply true of any pastel. Wash it separately, treat spills quickly rather than letting them set, and keep it out of direct sun when drying.

How should I wash it?

Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, on its own rather than with darker clothes. No wringing, no twisting. Line dry in shade and use a warm iron only.

Is mul cotton comfortable in summer?

It is one of the lightest cottons woven in India, so yes. It breathes, it does not cling, and a pale colour holds less heat than a dark one.

Can I see the actual saree on video before ordering?

Yes. Message or call 7353931190 and we will show you this exact piece live. We started offering this because fabric and true colour cannot be judged through a screen.

What are the shipping charges?

Free on all prepaid orders within India. Cash on Delivery available with a ₹150 shipping and cash-handling charge. Dispatch is usually within one working day.

What is your return policy?

5 days from delivery to request a return, with an unedited parcel-opening video from start to finish. Exchanges within 3 days. We have no pickup facility, so return shipping is arranged at your end.

Note: slight colour variation may occur due to camera settings and lighting. Returns and exchanges are not accepted for such variations — which is exactly why we offer the video call.
