An off-white saree with a red temple border and a red pallu, woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The body is plain with a soft sheen. The pallu carries jamdani-style motifs in red: small woven squares that climb in zigzag chains from one end to the other. It is 6 metres long, including a running blouse.
We label every saree as handloom or powerloom, so you always know what you are buying. This one is powerloom. The jamdani motifs are woven into the cloth by the loom, not inlaid by hand, and that is why we call it jamdani-style.
Fabric & Weave
The fabric is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani. It drapes lightly and softly. The style comes from Dhaka, which is why we call it Dhakai-style. The saree itself was woven in West Bengal, India.

How to Style It
Off-white and red is the classic pairing for Durga Puja, Deepavali and temple visits. With a plain body, the blouse does the work. A red blouse keeps it traditional. A red ikat or Ajrakh block-print blouse gives the plain body some contrast. Add gold or temple jewellery for festive days, or small studs for the office.
Care Instructions
Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Wash it separately the first time, as the red is strong. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade. Iron on a warm setting, never hot. Store it folded in a white cotton cloth in a dry place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Off-White Jamdani-Style Saree handloom?
No. This saree is woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The jamdani-style motifs on the pallu are woven into the cloth by the loom, not inlaid by hand. We mark every saree as handloom or powerloom so you always know.
What fabric is this saree made of?
It is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani fabric. It is light, soft and has a gentle sheen on the off-white body.
Why is it called Dhakai-style if it is woven in West Bengal?
The look of this weave comes from the jamdani tradition of Dhaka. This saree was woven in West Bengal, India, so we call it Dhakai-style rather than Dhakai jamdani.
Does the saree come with a blouse piece?
Yes. The Off-White Jamdani-Style Saree comes with a running blouse in off-white, with the red temple border along one edge. It is part of the 6 metre length.
How long and wide is the saree?
It is 6 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, including the blouse piece. It is free size.
Which occasions suit this saree?
Off-white and red is a traditional pairing for Durga Puja, Deepavali, Navratri and temple visits. The plain body also keeps it calm enough for the office or a small family function.
What blouse should I pair with it?
A red blouse keeps the look traditional. For more contrast against the plain off-white body, try a red ikat or Ajrakh block-print blouse. We would avoid a plain off-white blouse, as it can make the look flat.
How do I wash and care for this saree?
Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Wash it separately the first time, avoid bleach, do not wring, line dry in the shade and iron on a warm setting.
Will the colour match the photos exactly?
We photograph every saree as accurately as we can. Slight colour differences can occur because of lighting and screen settings.
