Navy Blue Half Shibori Tie-Dye Mul Cotton Saree

Two halves, one saree. Half of this soft mul cotton saree is a plain, deep navy blue. The other half is Shibori, tied by hand and dyed the traditional way in white, yellow, grey and navy. The colours bloom outward in soft, uneven ripples, and where the dye meets the plain half, it fades in a feathered line.

Shibori is a resist-dye craft. The fabric is tied, folded and bound by hand before it goes into the dye, and wherever the thread holds, the colour can't reach. Because every saree is tied separately, no two come out exactly alike. This is a handmade piece, and the small variations are part of it. The pallu ends in tassels of white and navy.

It comes without a blouse, so you can style it your way. A yellow or white blouse picks up the colours of the Shibori. For a younger, easier look, wear it with a crop top.

Wash care

• Hand wash or machine wash in cold to lukewarm water.
• Use a mild detergent. Avoid strong bleach or harsh chemicals.
• Wash dark and light colours separately.
• Do not wring or twist the fabric.
• Line dry in shade to keep the colour and softness.
• Iron on a warm setting, never hot.
