What's in the set

Top: navy blue, covered in a jaal of rounded medallions in red and off-white, each holding a printed flower. A panel of fine navy and off-white stripes sits at the yoke and again above the hem, finished with a plain navy band.

Bottom: navy blue, with an allover lattice of small off-white motifs and four-petal flowers.

Dupatta: navy blue, with the same off-white lattice across the body, red and off-white printed borders along both edges, a medallion panel with a scalloped border near the end, and tassels.

Fabric and craft

Modal silk is soft and fluid, with a quiet sheen. It is light enough to wear comfortably through a warm day.

Every motif on this set was printed by hand in Kutch, the home of Ajrakh. The wooden blocks leave small differences from one repeat to the next, which is how you know a person made it.

The fabric itself is not handloom. The handwork here is the printing.
