The Weave
This is a handloom cotton saree. Woven by hand, on a loom, by an artisan — not on a power loom.
The temple border is built one motif at a time: a stepped peak, then a small flowering stem, then another peak. On maroon the off-white motifs stand out clearly, so the small differences between them are easy to see. Those differences are the weaver's hand, and they are what make the saree honest.
How to Style It
Maroon is the colour most of us grew up seeing at every festival and temple visit — deep, warm, and never out of place. With the gold tissue pallu, it looks traditional in the best way. Wear it for Navratri, Deepavali, pooja at home or a family function, and let the cotton keep you comfortable through the day.
For contrast, a mustard or bottle green blouse brings out the warmth of the maroon. Black gives it a bolder, more graphic look. An off-white or beige blouse keeps it soft and lets the gold lead. Gold-toned or temple jewellery completes it.
Care
Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Wash it on its own the first few times, and always keep darks and lights apart. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Do not wring or twist, especially the tissue. Line dry in the shade — cotton fades faster in direct sun. Iron on a warm setting, and press the tissue border and pallu on the reverse side.
Store it folded in a dry place, wrapped in white cotton cloth, and refold it along new lines now and then so the tissue does not crease sharply in one place.
Questions
What is the fabric?
Handloom cotton, with a gold tissue border and a gold tissue pallu.
Is the gold shimmer zari?
No. The shimmer on the border and pallu is tissue, not zari.
What comes with the saree?
One maroon handloom cotton saree, 6.2 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, with a maroon running blouse attached. The blouse portion is part of the 6.2 metres.
Is the blouse stitched?
No. The running blouse is unstitched and attached to the saree. Your tailor cuts it off and stitches it to your measurements.
Is it really handloom?
Yes. It is woven by hand on a loom, not on a power loom.
What colour are the tassels?
Deep red — a shade brighter than the maroon body, so they stand out at the end of the pallu.
How is this different from your other handloom cotton sarees in this weave?
The mustard and soft indigo sarees share this temple border in other colours. The magenta and rama green sarees carry a leaf border instead. Maroon is the most traditional of the set.
Is it suitable for festivals?
Yes. Maroon and gold tissue are a classic festive pairing, and the cotton keeps it comfortable — a good choice for Navratri, Deepavali, pooja and family functions.
Why do some motifs look slightly different?
Because they are woven by hand. Small variations in texture and motif shape are natural to handloom and are not defects.
How do I care for the tissue?
Do not wring or twist it. Iron on a warm setting, pressing the tissue on the reverse side, and store the saree folded in soft cotton cloth.
Can I see the saree on a video call?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp at 7353931190 and we will show it to you live, in daylight, so you can see the true shade of maroon and how the gold tissue catches the light.
Do you deliver across India?
Yes, to all pin codes. Shipping is free on prepaid orders. COD is available with a ₹150 handling charge.
How soon will it reach me?
We usually dispatch within one working day. Delivery then takes two to three days to metro cities and five to seven to non-metro.
Can I return or exchange it?
Returns are accepted within five days of receipt, with an unedited video of the parcel being opened from start to finish. Exchanges within three days, in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged at your end.
