The Maroon & Green Khadi Cotton Saree pairs a deep maroon body with a rich green pallu and a green running blouse attached. Maroon and green is one of the oldest colour pairings in Indian textile โ it looks festive without any embellishment at all, which is exactly what a good plain cotton should do.
Is this handloom?
No. This saree is powerloom-woven, mill-spun cotton in a khadi weave.
We say it here rather than leave you to work it out. About 80% of our range is made by hand by skilled artisans and labelled that way; this one isn't. It is khadi-weave cotton woven on a powerloom, which is what keeps it accessible. Same breathability, same drape, an honest account of how it was made.
How you can check any saree yourself: handloom cotton shows small irregularities โ uneven thread density, a selvedge that isn't perfectly straight, occasional knots. Powerloom cloth is even from end to end. Neither is a flaw; they are different things at different prices.
Fabric and drape
Breathable khadi-weave cotton with a light surface texture. It takes a pleat easily, moves well, and softens each time you wash it.
Styling maroon and green
This pairing already carries festive weight, so it needs very little help.
- The attached green running blouse is the traditional match and the one most women will reach for.
- A gold or cream blouse is the alternative worth trying โ it makes both colours look deeper rather than competing with them.
- Temple gold jewellery is the obvious partner. Green and maroon against gold is a combination that has worked for generations for a reason.
- Both colours sit well across skin tones; the maroon carries the drape and the green lifts it.
When to wear it
Festive wear ยท Ugadi, Varamahalakshmi and Pongal ยท temple visits ยท family functions and weddings as a guest ยท daily and office wear when you want something with more presence than a plain neutral.

Questions buyers ask
Is this saree handwoven?
No โ powerloom. Mill-woven khadi-weave cotton rather than handwoven. Roughly 80% of our wider range is artisan-made; this is our accessible everyday option.
How long is the saree?
6 metres, including an 80 cm running blouse. Width 1.2 metres.
Does it include a blouse?
Yes โ a green running blouse matching the pallu, attached and unstitched, ready for your tailor.
Is this suitable for a festival?
Yes. Maroon with green reads as festive without needing zari or embroidery, and cotton is a safer choice than silk around lamps at Deepavali.
What blouse should I stitch for it?
The attached green is traditional and safe. A gold or cream blouse is the more interesting choice โ it deepens both colours instead of competing with them.
What jewellery suits this saree?
Temple gold. Maroon and green against gold is a long-established combination, and one substantial piece is enough.
Will the dye run?
Wash it on its own for the first two or three washes. Both colours release a little dye at the start, as cotton dyes tend to.
Will it shrink?
Slightly, on the first wash. Cold to lukewarm water and shade drying keep it minimal.
Can I return it if the colour isn't what I expected?
You have 5 days from receipt, with an unedited parcel-opening video required. Slight variation from screen to fabric isn't grounds for return, which is exactly why we offer a video call before you order โ ask for one.
