The Rama Green & Dark Green Khadi Cotton Saree runs a rama green body into a deeper green pallu, with a matching running blouse attached. Green on green is the most understated saree in our khadi range — tonal rather than contrasting, and quietly elegant in a way that a two-colour saree rarely manages.

Is this handloom?

No. This saree is powerloom-woven, mill-spun cotton in a khadi weave.

We would rather say it plainly than let you assume. Around 80% of our range is made by hand by skilled artisans and labelled accordingly; this one isn't. It is khadi-weave cotton woven on a powerloom, which is what keeps it accessible. Same breathability, same easy drape — the difference is in the making, and you should be the one deciding what that's worth.

How to tell them apart yourself: handloom cloth carries small irregularities — thread density that shifts, a selvedge that isn't perfectly straight, the odd joining knot. Powerloom cloth is machine-even throughout. Neither is a defect.

Fabric and drape

Breathable khadi-weave cotton with a light texture. It pleats cleanly, moves well, and softens with each wash.

Styling green on green

This is a tonal saree, and tonal drapes live or die by the blouse. This is the one in the range where a contrast blouse genuinely changes everything.

• The attached green running blouse keeps it wholly tonal — calm, understated, right for the office.
• For anything more, a gold, mustard, cream or deep pink blouse gives the drape definition it otherwise lacks. A printed or ikat blouse is the strongest choice here — a plain saree with a plain blouse in the same family can read flat.
• Gold jewellery lifts green better than silver. Temple gold especially.
• Greens sit well across skin tones, and the two-tone depth means it won't flatten the way a single flat green can.

Care

Hand wash or machine wash in cold to lukewarm water with a mild detergent. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Wash darks and lights separately. Don't wring or twist. Line dry in the shade — greens dull in direct sunlight. Warm iron only. Store dry, wrapped in white cotton cloth. Small knots in cotton are natural. Cared for properly, it lasts 7 to 10 years.

What is rama green?

A deep blue-leaning green, cooler and darker than a parrot or leaf green. Here it is paired with an even deeper green pallu.

Won't green on green look flat?

A printed or ikat blouse is the strongest option for this saree. Two plain greens together need something with pattern to hold the eye.

Gold, and temple gold in particular. It lifts green in a way silver doesn't.
