A maroon Bhujodi saree, handwoven in Kutch, Gujarat. Bands of white stripes and fine dotted lines run across the maroon body, with small white diamond buttas and arrow-like motifs woven between them, and a larger star motif in the pallu. A grey border striped in red frames the saree, and the pallu ends in white tassels on a knotted red fringe.
Bhujodi is the weaving tradition of Bhujodi village near Bhuj, in Kutch. The motifs are not printed or embroidered. Each one is woven in by hand, thread by thread, as the saree takes shape on the loom. That is why the edges of the motifs have the slightly stepped, pixel-like look of the real handloom.
It comes with a running blouse piece. Red and white is a warm, classic pairing: wear it with the running blouse, or try a contrast blouse in mustard, grey or white.
