An ink blue Bhujodi saree, handwoven in Kutch, Gujarat, in pure cotton. White motifs are woven across the blue body: small crosses, arrow-shaped chevrons, and diamonds standing on fine dotted stems. Toward the pallu, the saree opens into wide bands of white stripes, with star-like motifs and crosses woven between them. A white border with fine blue stripes runs along the edge, and the pallu ends in white tassels.
Bhujodi is the weaving tradition of Bhujodi village near Bhuj, in Kutch. The motifs are not printed or embroidered. Each one is woven in by hand, thread by thread, as the saree takes shape on the loom. That is why the edges of the motifs have the slightly stepped, pixel-like look of the real handloom. This one is woven cotton on cotton, so it is soft, breathable and easy to wear through a long, warm day.
It comes with a running blouse piece. Blue and white is easy to style: wear it with the running blouse, or try a contrast blouse in red, mustard or white.
