Green Maheshwari-Style Cotton Silk Saree with Magenta Pallu and Flower Butta

A green Maheshwari-style cotton silk saree with a magenta pallu, flower butta all over, and a magenta blouse piece, woven on a powerloom. It's inspired by the Maheshwari weave, not woven in Maheshwar, and we'd rather you know that before anything else.

Fabric & Weave

Cotton silk blends cotton with silk, which gives the green body a soft sheen. Small flower buttas are woven across the whole saree in gold-coloured thread, not zari.

The border is woven in gold-coloured thread with a fine lattice pattern. The magenta pallu carries larger flower buttas, then a gold band lined in magenta and a green end panel, finished with black and gold tassels.

Size

6.24 m long, including a 90 cm magenta running blouse attached to the saree. The blouse piece carries flower buttas too. 1.2 m wide and about 500 g. Free size.

How to Style It

Green and magenta is one of the most loved contrasts in festive dressing, and the gold buttas tie the two together. The attached magenta blouse repeats the pallu. A green blouse keeps the body colour running up to the shoulder. Since the buttas already carry detail, simple gold jewellery is enough.

Care

Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, since magenta can bleed. No bleach and no wringing. Line dry in the shade and iron on warm.
