A green saree with a pink pallu and a pink temple border, woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The green is fresh and leafy, and the body stays plain so the pink can carry the saree. Deeper pink jamdani-style motifs run across the pallu in zigzag chains of small woven squares. It is 6 metres long, including a running blouse.

Every saree we list is marked handloom or powerloom. This one is powerloom. Its jamdani-style motifs are woven in by the loom rather than inlaid by hand, so that is exactly what we call them.

Fabric & Weave

The fabric is known in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani: light, soft and easy to pleat. The style traces back to Dhaka. This saree was woven in West Bengal, India.

  • Body: plain green with a soft sheen
  • Border: pink temple triangles on a band of fine pink and green stripes
  • Pallu: pink, with deeper pink jamdani-style motifs in zigzag chains
  • Running blouse: included, with the temple border along one edge

  • Woven: on a powerloom in West Bengal, India

How to Style It

Green and pink is one of the happiest pairings in a South Indian wardrobe. It suits Ugadi, Varamahalakshmi, Pongal, haldi and mehendi. A pink blouse matches the pallu and keeps the look festive. For a softer day look, try a pastel blouse. Gold jhumkas or a short temple necklace finish it for a function. Small studs keep it easy for work.

Care Instructions

Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Wash it on its own the first time, so the pink and green stay clean. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade. Iron on a warm setting, never hot. Store folded in a white cotton cloth in a dry place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Green Jamdani-Style Saree handwoven?

No. The Green Jamdani-Style Saree is woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The motifs on the pink pallu are woven by the loom, not inlaid by hand. We tell you handloom or powerloom on every saree we sell.

What is the fabric of this green and pink saree?

It is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani fabric. It feels light and soft, with a gentle sheen across the green body.

Is this a Dhakai jamdani from Bangladesh?

No. The style comes from the jamdani tradition of Dhaka, but this saree was woven in West Bengal, India. That is why we call it Dhakai-style.

Is a blouse piece included?

Yes. The Green Jamdani-Style Saree comes with a running blouse, with the temple border along one edge. It is part of the 6 metre length.

What is the length and width?

The saree is 6 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, including the blouse piece. It is free size.

Where can I wear a green and pink saree?

Green and pink suits Ugadi, Varamahalakshmi, Pongal, haldi and mehendi, as well as small family functions. With simple jewellery it also works for the office.

Which blouse goes best with it?

A pink blouse matches the pallu and keeps it festive. A pastel blouse softens it for daytime. We would skip a plain green blouse, as it can make the look flat.

How should I wash the Green Jamdani-Style Saree?

Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Wash it on its own the first time, avoid bleach, do not wring, line dry in the shade and iron on a warm setting.

Is the green exactly as shown in the photos?

We try to photograph every saree true to colour. Lighting and screen settings can still cause slight differences.
