Parrot green handloom linen, one colour from the first pleat to the last. The break comes from silver — a fine zari border running the full length, and a band of fine silver stripes across the pallu — and the pallu end finishes in green and cream tassels.

Across the shoulder drape, a hand-embroidered garden — thin brown vines carrying pink blossoms, olive leaves, coral rosettes worked in looped thread, and small dense knots of yellow and cream. It is the kind of work that takes a person a long time and a machine no time at all, and you can tell the difference by looking.

Fabric & Weave

Handwoven linen, woven on a loom by artisans in India. Linen breathes in a way few fabrics manage — it stays cool through a long South Indian afternoon, holds a crisp pleat, and softens a little more with every wash rather than wearing out.

You will find the occasional slub or a thread sitting slightly proud of the weave. These are not flaws. They are what tells you a person made this and a machine did not.

What's included

  • One 6.4-metre saree (includes a shimmer running blouse)
  • Width: 1.12 M (44 Inches)
  • Free size — the saree fits all body types

The Embroidery

The floral work is done by hand on the white section. Sequins and beads are stitched in individually. Because the motifs are placed freehand, the piece you receive will differ very slightly from the photographs — this is normal for hand-worked embroidery and part of why each saree is its own.

How to Style It

The running blouse is cut from the same weave, so the simplest route is also the most elegant one — stitch it up and let the saree read as one continuous piece, with the silver shimmer carrying from shoulder to hem.

Pearls or oxidised silver suit the silver zari better than gold. One statement piece is plenty.

Care

Hand wash or machine wash in cold to lukewarm water with a mild detergent. No bleach, no harsh chemicals. Wash darks and lights separately. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade — direct sun fades linen faster than anything else. Warm iron only; excess heat damages the fibre.

Store folded in a dry place, wrapped in white cotton cloth. Cared for this way, a handloom linen saree will stay with you for seven to ten years.

See It Before You Buy

You cannot feel linen through a screen, and I would not ask you to take my word for it. Message us on WhatsApp at 7353931190 and we will get on a video call — I will show you this exact saree, the weave, the embroidery, the true colour in daylight. Then decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this saree handloom or powerloom?

Handloom. It is woven on a loom by hand, not on a powerloom. We do stock powerloom sarees in our affordable range and we say so plainly on those listings — this is not one of them.

What is the fabric?

Pure linen, handwoven. Linen is a natural fibre made from flax. It is more breathable than cotton, holds a sharper pleat, and gets softer with every wash.

Is the embroidery done by hand?

Yes. The floral motifs, sequins and bead clusters are all stitched by hand, which is why the placement varies slightly across the saree and from piece to piece.

Does the saree come with a blouse piece?

Yes. A running blouse piece is included, cut from the same handloom linen as the saree — the same green with the same silver zari shimmer running through it. Because it comes off the same weave it will match the saree exactly rather than approximately. The full length is 6.4 metres including the blouse piece.

Will the linen feel stiff or scratchy?

New linen has a crispness to it that some people mistake for stiffness. It is not scratchy. After the first two or three washes it relaxes considerably and drapes closer to the body.

Can I see the saree before I buy it?

Yes. Message us on WhatsApp at 7353931190 and we will arrange a video call at a time that suits you. We will show you this exact saree — the weave, the embroidery, the colour in real daylight — before you pay anything.

How do I wash a handloom linen saree?

Dry Clean

Does linen shrink?

Natural fibres can shrink very slightly on the first wash. For a saree this makes no practical difference, as sarees are free size. If you are having a blouse stitched from an included blouse piece, wash the piece before you take it to your tailor.

Is this suitable for daily or office wear?

Yes. Linen is one of the easiest sarees to wear through a full working day — it is light, it breathes, and it does not cling. It also carries well to a festival or a family function, particularly a long one like Ganesh Chaturthi where comfort matters as much as how it looks.

Do you ship across India, and is Cash on Delivery available?

We ship to all Indian pin codes. Shipping is free on prepaid orders. Cash on Delivery is available with a ₹150 shipping and cash-handling charge. Orders are dispatched within one working day and usually reach metro cities in two to three days, and non-metro cities in five to seven.

What if it does not look like the photographs?

Handloom and hand embroidery vary slightly from piece to piece, so we would rather you saw the real thing first — take us up on the video call. If you have already ordered, you have five days from delivery to request a return, and we ask for an unedited video of the parcel being opened from start to finish.
