A cream saree with a wine pallu and a wine temple border, woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The cream body is plain and soft. The wine is deep and berry-toned, with a sheen that catches the light as the pallu moves. Deeper wine jamdani-style motifs run across it in zigzag chains, and wine temple triangles rise along the border. It is 6 metres long, including a running blouse.
We mark every saree as handloom or powerloom. This one is powerloom. The motifs are woven by the loom, not inlaid by hand, so we call them jamdani-style.

The fabric is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani. It is light and soft, with a noticeable sheen on the wine pallu. The style comes from Dhaka's jamdani tradition. This saree was woven in West Bengal, India.

How to Style It
Cream and wine is rich but never heavy. It suits Karthigai Deepam, a daytime wedding or a family function, and it makes a thoughtful gift for a mother or mother-in-law. A wine blouse carries the pallu through the drape. A bottle green blouse gives it a classic temple-colour contrast. Antique gold or temple jewellery suits it well, with a small maroon bindi.
Care Instructions
Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Wash it on its own for the first few washes, as deep wine can release colour onto the cream. Do not soak, wring or twist. Line dry in the shade. Iron on a warm setting, never hot. Store folded in a white cotton cloth in a dry place.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Cream and Wine Jamdani-Style Saree handloom?
No. The Cream and Wine Jamdani-Style Saree is woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The motifs on the wine pallu are loom-woven, not inlaid by hand. We state handloom or powerloom on every saree.
What is this cream and wine saree made of?
It is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani fabric. It is light and soft, with a sheen on the wine pallu.
Is this saree a Dhakai jamdani from Bangladesh?
No. The jamdani style comes from Dhaka, but this saree was woven in West Bengal, India. We call it Dhakai-style so that is clear.
Does the Cream and Wine Jamdani-Style Saree have a blouse piece?
Yes. It includes a running blouse, with the temple border along one edge, as part of the 6 metre length.
What is the size of the saree?
It is 6 metres long and 1.2 metres wide, including the blouse piece. It is free size.
Where can I wear a cream and wine saree?
It suits Karthigai Deepam, daytime weddings and family functions. It also makes a good gift for a mother or mother-in-law.
What blouse should I pair with a cream and wine saree?
A wine blouse continues the pallu. A bottle green blouse gives a traditional temple-colour contrast. A plain cream blouse can make the look flat, so we suggest a colour.
Will the wine colour run?
Deep colours like wine can release some dye in the first few washes. Wash it on its own in cold water, do not soak it, and dry it in the shade. Dry cleaning is the safest option.
Is the wine shade accurate in the photo?
We photograph every saree as close to its true colour as we can. The sheen on the pallu changes with light, so the shade may look slightly different on screen.
