A cream saree with a pink temple border and a striped cream-and-pink pallu, woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The cream body is plain with a soft sheen. The pink is bright and joyful. On the pallu, bands of fine pink stripes alternate with rows of pink jamdani-style motifs in zigzag chains, and pink temple triangles run along the border. It is 6 metres long, including a running blouse.

We tell you handloom or powerloom on every saree. This one is powerloom. The pink motifs are woven by the loom, not inlaid by hand, so we call them jamdani-style.

Fabric & Weave

The fabric is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani. It is light and soft, with a gentle sheen on the cream. The style comes from the jamdani tradition of Dhaka. This saree was woven in West Bengal, India.

How to Style It

Cream and pink is cheerful and easy to love. It suits a Sankranti morning, the daytime functions around a family wedding, or a puja at home. It is also a sweet gift for a daughter or a younger sister. A pink blouse picks up the border and keeps it festive. A green blouse gives it a classic temple-colour contrast. Gold jhumkas and a string of jasmine finish it beautifully.

Care Instructions

Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Wash it on its own the first time, so the pink stays off the cream. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade. Iron on a warm setting, never hot. Store folded in a white cotton cloth in a dry place.
