A cream saree with a blue temple border and a striped cream-and-blue pallu, woven on a powerloom in West Bengal. The cream body is plain with a soft sheen, and the blue is clear and bright. On the pallu, bands of fine blue stripes alternate with rows of blue jamdani-style motifs in zigzag chains. Blue temple triangles line the border. It is 6 metres long, including a running blouse.
Handloom or powerloom, we say which on every saree. This one is powerloom. The blue motifs are woven in by the loom, not inlaid by hand, and we call them jamdani-style for that reason.
Fabric & Weave
The fabric is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani. It is light and airy, with a gentle sheen. The style comes from the jamdani tradition of Dhaka, and the saree itself was woven in West Bengal, India.

How to Style It
Cream and blue is cool, crisp and easy to wear on hot days. It suits a summer office, a daytime family gathering, a temple visit or travel. A blue blouse picks up the border for a neat, finished look. An indigo block-print or ikat blouse adds pattern. For contrast, try mustard or rust. Silver jewellery sits naturally with the blue.
Care Instructions
Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Wash it on its own the first time, so the blue does not touch the cream. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade. Iron on a warm setting, never hot. Store folded in a white cotton cloth in a dry place.
Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fabric of this cream and blue saree?
It is sold in the trade as soft Dhakai jamdani fabric. It is light, airy and has a gentle sheen on the cream body.
Is this saree woven in Dhaka?
