A handloom saree with a soft cream body and a grey pallu, the pallu edged in black and woven with off-white motifs. On the cream body the buttas are tone-on-tone — you notice them up close, in the light, rather than from across the room. The motifs are woven into the cloth, not printed on it, which is why you can see them from the reverse side too. A running blouse comes attached.

The Weave

This is handloom. Woven by hand, on a loom, by an artisan — not on a power loom. We say it plainly, because it is the thing our customers most want to be sure of.

A hand-woven cloth carries the marks of the hand that made it. You may find a slub in the yarn, or a motif that sits a little off from the one beside it. That is the loom speaking, not a flaw in the saree.

How to Style It

Cream and grey is the quietest pairing in our range. It reads calm and clean — easy for office days, easy for a morning at the temple, easy to make your own.

Because the saree itself is so soft, the blouse can do the talking. A black blouse picks up the pallu border and sharpens the whole look. A maroon or deep red blouse warms it. Oxidised silver jewellery sits beautifully against the grey.

Care

Hand wash in cold to lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Wash it on its own the first few times — the grey and black can release a little dye early on, and a cream body shows it. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade, never in direct sun. Warm iron only.

Stored well — folded in a dry place, wrapped in white cotton cloth, refolded along different lines now and then — a handloom saree stays with you for years.

Why do I see small irregularities in the weave?

How should I wash it?

Returns are accepted within five days of receiving it, with an unedited video of the parcel being opened from start to finish. Exchanges within three days, in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged at your end.
