Bright Orange Maheshwari-Style Cotton Silk Saree with Gold Border and Butta

A bright orange Maheshwari-style cotton silk saree with a gold border and small gold buttas all over, woven on a powerloom. It's one colour from end to end, blouse included. It's inspired by the Maheshwari weave rather than woven in Maheshwar, and we'd rather you know that before anything else.

Fabric & Weave

Cotton silk blends cotton with silk, so the orange carries a soft sheen. Small diamond-shaped buttas are woven across it in gold-coloured thread, not zari.

The border is a wide diamond weave in gold-coloured thread, finished with a thin red edge. On the pallu, a sheer gold band crosses the orange, and the end is finished with red and gold tassels.

Size

6.24 m long, including a 90 cm orange running blouse attached to the saree. 1.2 m wide and about 500 g. Free size.

How to Style It

A single-tone saree looks its best with some contrast. The attached orange blouse gives a clean, all-in-one look. A maroon or deep green blouse brings out the red edge and the gold. Gold jhumkas and a string of jasmine suit it well.

Care

Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent, since bright colours can bleed. No bleach and no wringing. Line dry in the shade, as orange fades faster in direct sun, and iron on warm.
