This is a black kadhi cotton saree with fine silver zari stripes running through the body, and a contrast grey pallu finished with tassels. It is 6 metres long and comes with a plain black blouse piece. 

Fabric and weave

This saree is powerloom-woven cotton. 

Ethnic Vastrr sells both handloom and powerloom pieces, and we don't blur the line between the two. A powerloom saree is woven on a mechanised loom rather than by hand. It is a genuinely good everyday cotton saree 

The body is black, with fine silver zari vertical lines running through it at close, even intervals. The pallu shifts to a soft grey with a slubby, textured surface, and ends in hand-tied black tassels.

How to style it

A black saree with a fine silver stripe wants a blouse that adds something rather than repeating it. A printed or ikat blouse works beautifully here — the print takes centre stage and the saree stays understated. Care instructions

Hand wash or machine wash in cold to lukewarm water with a mild detergent. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Wash darks and lights separately — a black saree especially. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in shade; direct sun fades cotton faster. Warm iron only, as excess heat damages the fabric. Store in a dry place wrapped in white cotton cloth.

Cotton may shrink slightly on the first wash. Small knots in the yarn are natural to cotton and are not a defect. Cared for this way, the saree will stay with you for years.

Returns are accepted within 5 days of receipt, and require an unedited parcel-opening video from start to finish. Exchanges are accepted within 3 days, with the product in its original condition and packaging. We do not have a pickup facility, so return shipping is arranged at your end.

Frequently asked questions

Is this saree handloom or powerloom?

This saree is powerloom-woven cotton. It is not handloom. We sell both at Ethnic Vastrr and we label each piece honestly, so you always know which one you are buying.

How can I tell handloom from powerloom myself?

Handloom fabric carries small irregularities — slight variation in the weave, tiny knots, a border that isn't perfectly identical end to end. Powerloom fabric is uniform, because a machine repeats the same motion exactly. Neither is a defect. They are different ways of making cloth, at different prices.

Is this a khadi saree?

No. This fabric is often sold in the trade under the name "khadi cotton", and that is how it reached us, but genuine khadi is cloth that has been hand-spun and hand-woven. This saree is powerloom-woven cotton with a slubby, textured surface that resembles khadi. We would rather tell you that than let the word do work it hasn't earned.

What is this saree made of?

Cotton. It is lightweight and breathable, and it gets softer with every wash.
