The Weave

Handloom, in the plain sense of the word: woven by hand, on a loom, by an artisan. Not a power loom. It is the question we are asked most often, so we answer it first.

On black, you can see the hand at work. A butta leaning a little, a band of motifs that breathes unevenly across the width. These are not mistakes. They are how you know a person made it.

How to Style It

Black and grey is the most graphic pairing in this weave. The off-white motifs stand out sharply against the black, so the saree looks finished even with very little added.

A red or maroon blouse turns it festive. A soft pastel keeps it light for the day. Oxidised silver jewellery picks up the grey and the off-white motifs.

Care

Hand wash in cold to lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Wash it separately for the first few washes — black can release a little dye early on. No bleach or harsh chemicals. Do not wring or twist. Line dry in the shade; direct sun fades black faster. Warm iron only.

Store it folded in a dry place, wrapped in white cotton cloth, refolding along different lines from time to time. Looked after this way, a handloom saree stays with you for years.

Returns are accepted within five days of receipt, with an unedited video of the parcel being opened from start to finish. Exchanges within three days, in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged at your end.
