A black modal silk saree, hand-block printed in Ajrakh in Kutch, Gujarat. Large peacock buttas in blue, red and off-white are spread across the black body. The border carries bold blue medallions on a textured black band, edged with a diamond chain. The pallu opens into a dense red and blue jaal of lozenges and quatrefoils, with a row of cone motifs at the end and red tassels. The running blouse is black with the same blue medallions.
It is authentic modal silk. It's light and flowy, and comfortable enough to wear all day.
The Print
Every peacock is built from several hand-carved wooden blocks, laid one over another by hand in Kutch. Look at the tail feathers and you'll see each bird is a little different. That is the hand at work, and no two pieces come out the same. We source it directly from the artisans who print it.
The Fabric
Modal silk has a soft sheen and a fluid drape. It's lighter than a heavy silk and breathes better, so it stays comfortable through a long evening out.
The Running Blouse
The 6 metres include a running blouse in black with blue medallions, ready to cut and take to your tailor.
How to Style It
The peacocks are the statement, so keep the rest quiet: one piece of jewellery is enough. It's made for evenings, like a classical music concert, a cultural festival, an anniversary dinner or a family wedding, when you want something that gets noticed without being loud.
Care
Hand wash gently at home in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean. Don't wring or twist. Dry in the shade.
