Beige Hand-Block Printed Cotton Saree with Brown Buttas and Black Medallion Border

A beige saree in 100% cotton, hand-block printed by artisans in India. Small brown floral buttas sit in rows across the body, framed by a bold black border of off-white half-medallions with a thin brown edge. The pallu runs in vertical stripes of brown and black, with diamond chains, flowering vines and a wide band of large black floral sprays.

Every motif is pressed by hand with a carved wooden block, so you'll see small variations from print to print — a slight shift in tone, a softened edge. That's the hand at work, not a flaw.

It comes with a blouse piece in beige, printed with rows of black arrow motifs, ready to be tailored to your fit.

The earthy beige, brown and black palette works for office days, gallery visits and family lunches. Oxidised silver or terracotta jewellery suits it well.

• Before the first wash, soak in salt water for a few minutes — no more than 10 — to help set the colour.
